GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A popular gym closed its doors without giving its members much notice.

The Leading Edge gym in Greenfield locked its doors at 10:00pm Tuesday night.

The Business Certificate for the gym in the Greenfield's Clerk's office shows that Peter Earle is the owner.

22NEWS went to the gym Wednesday, where many members were just finding out the gym was shut down.

The notes on the door only left a phone number and an email of a court appointed lawyer.

22NEWS left a message for Mr. Earle and Joanne DeLong.  Those calls were not returned.

Members of this gym were upset when they found out.

"It's very frustrating because last year I went almost every day and I lost 17 pounds, and it's very convenient to have a cheap gym to go to and I even got my mom to join and now we have nowhere to go", says former member Jennifer Senn.

Attorney Gary Weiner is the company's court appointed receiver, he does not legally represent the company.
He's been ordered to take control of the company's assets and sell them.

Weiner told 22NEWS, once that is done the club members will be paid out, if they make enough money.  He said the club members are owed $17,000 worth of membership feeds, but not everyone is owed money.

Weiner told 22NEWS he will soon be sending gym members an email with instructions on what they need to do to get their refunds.  There are 3200 people on the membership roster.
