Hiring slowed as many still look for jobs

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A new report released Tuesday shows that hiring has slowed since the start of the year.

The same day the report came out, more than 30 people went to Employment Plus in Greenfield, where they are looking to fill warehouse, manufacturing, and office jobs.

Employment Plus is a staffing and recruiting firm; it's goal is to help people find jobs.

“The staffing market has taken off in the last few years,” said Jason Malek, Area Manager for Employment Plus. “A lot of companies had to do a lot of major layoffs and hiring temporary staffing makes it easier on the client.”

Catherine Saravia of Greenfield was one of the people there on Tuesday. She told 22News that she hopes to find work soon.

“I worked in customer service and retail, so I do have a little bit of experience. I'm looking towards the food and beverage (industry) though, because I'm studying culinary,” she said.
