LEVERETT, Mass. (WWLP) - Cell phone service in Franklin County town of Leverett is spotty at best, and residents may be ready to approve the building of a cell phone tower.
People in the town of about 1,800 residents told 22News that they are fed up with the lack of cell phone service, and may be ready to approve the construction of a new tower to improve reception.
“Like we had the five-day cell phone power outage, you couldn't do anything, you couldn't call anyone,” Christine Nelson of Leverett said.
“My customers can't reach me by phone,” Leverett business owner Elizabeth Upshuer said, “only by e-mail, if my family needs to reach me, they can't reach me.”
Town Administrator Marjorie McGinnis told 22News that town meeting members will vote in October whether to approve construction of a cell phone tower. A cell phone tower proposal lost by three votes this past April.
