GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Salvation Army in Greenfield helped make the holiday better for a lot of people, by Thanksgiving meals for low-income families and residents whose families live far away.
Dozens of volunteers started grilling and baking early in the morning.
One family who found out about the meal from a total stranger told 22News that's what Thanksgiving is all about - helping others.
“My daughter right here, she was crying. She was like ‘I want a turkey.’ I was like ‘Aww.’ Times have been hard, and we are struggling,” Mike Ramirez of Greenfield said. “I appreciate all this, and I'm happy about it.”
Franklin County residents and local businesses donated food and money to make this Thanksgiving meal possible.
