SHUTESBURY, Mass. (WWLP) - A town's 250th anniversary doesn't happen every day, which is why the Franklin community of Shutesbury seized the opportunity to celebrate their once in a lifetime milestone Saturday.
It seemed like the entire town of nearly 2,000 people were either in the parade or watching the parade go by. The event was upbeat and festive with an historical emphasis that saluted the people of Shutesbury's past.
The people of Shutesbury told 22News, this was the time to honor a small town with huge historical impact. "I feel a part of the history of shutesbury, I'm really glad to be part of it," says Linda Lau.
"Well 250 years goes by and doesn't come back again, said David Carlson, "you only have one chance at this.
And so the people of Shutesbury decided to do it up right with a grand parade through the center of town. 22News joins in wishing the town of Shutesbury a memorable 250th anniversary.
