CHARLEMONT, Mass. (WWLP) - Thursday was our first full day of spring, but skiers are enjoying our extended winter weather.

Skiers and riders were hitting the slopes at Berkshire East ski area in Charlemont Thursday.

The sun was shining, but it was cold. The snow provided mid-winter conditions for spring skiing.

Berkshire East's owner told 22News this season's been much better than last year.

"It's night and day difference,” said Roy Schaefer. “The snow this year has been very timely, comes before vacations and has stayed all winter."

Jack Ciesla of South Deerfield told 22News, "This is fantastic skiing. The grooming is fantastic, the snow is fantastic; it's a very good year. Couldn’t ask for a better year."

Roy Schaefer anticipates skiing will continue in Charlemont until at least Easter weekend.
