SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. (WWLP) - The maple sugaring season hasn't started yet, however the weather is making it easier for the Gould Family who own Gould’s Maple Sugarhouse in Shelburne.
The maple sugaring season depends solely on the weather and since there's barely snow on the ground they starting putting their lines up.
Larry Gould doesn't know what kind of sugar content he will have until he's starts tapping in the tap.
“We're about two weeks ahead of where we want to be right now we generally get started in the last week of February depending on the weather with the weather patterns that we've been having it's really up in the air on knowing exactly what to do, “ said Gould.
Gould said he may start a week earlier but It’s a day by day process.
They open March 1st and they encourage people to come down to Shelburne and watch the process.
