CHARLEMONT, Mass. (WWLP) - Students at Rowe Elementary School will have to wait a few more days before they find out where they're going to school this year. At a meeting Thursday, The Hawlemont school committee did not vote on accepting the Rowe students in their school. Although there was a general sense of support during the conversation, says Mohawk Schools Superintendent Michael Buoniconti.
Lightning hit Rowe Elementary School on Saturday and it caught fire. The students now need a place to go to school.
Superintendent Buoniconti told 22News that the Rowe and Hawlemont school committees will meet on Tuesday. A vote is likely to take place then. Both school committees need to agree on the parameters of how their resources will be shared. This includes calculating and agreeing on the shared expenses.
The joint meeting is Tuesday at 4:15pm in Charlemont.
Their first day of school is August 29th.
