SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Five people, including three young teens, were arrested during a Springfield drug raid Tuesday afternoon, and police are still looking for a sixth person to face the most serious charges.
Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Juan Jose Reyes, 33, of Chicopee, Carlos Suarez, 17, of Springfield, and three younger teens (aged 13, 14, and 15- names not being released due to their age) were arrested Tuesday afternoon.
According to Delaney, police had been getting complaints about drug dealing and gang activity in the St. James Avenue area of the McKnight neighborhood, and an investigation led them to conduct Tuesday’s drug raid at 287 St. James.
Arriving at the home around 4:00, Delaney says that inside, police found 88 bags of heroin, 5 grams of pure heroin, 16 oxycodone pills, 8 grams of crack cocaine, 10 suboxone pills, three loaded handguns, and 100 rounds of ammunition.
The people inside were arrested, with Suarez and the three other teens facing firearm charges, and Reyes being charged with heroin possession.
Delaney says they have an arrest warrant out for an adult who was not home at the time of the raid. That person, whose identity is not being released at this time, will face charges of possession with intent to distribute for all the different kinds drugs seized in the raid, in addition to firearms charges.
