CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Police are looking for one of two suspects in an attempted robbery at a Chicopee jewelry store, where the assaulted store owner fired shots at the thieves.
Around 4:00 Monday afternoon, Chicopee Police Sgt. Chris Lareau says two men walked into Furnari Jewelers on Memorial Drive and began assaulting a worker.
The owner fired a gun at the suspects, who then got away.
Capt. Lonnie Dakin told 22News that a "person of interest" brought himself to the hospital. Dakin had no information on his injuries at this time, so it remains unclear whether he was actually shot. It is also unclear whether the anyone else was shot.
Police have analyzed surveillance video taken from the store, but have so far been unable to make out any of the suspects' faces.
The store owner, Anthony Furnari, suffered injuries to his face and hand, and was taken to Baystate Medical Center. He has since been released.

A second worker inside the store did not have to be hospitalized. She was brought to the Chicopee police department headquarters to give her account of what happened.
Chicopee and state police investigated Monday afternoon at the shopping plaza, which also includes a nail salon and a Planet Fitness gym. A state police helicopter was also circling in the area.
