SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The MSPCA stepped in to help a woman who was caring for 20 dogs.
The MSPCA was called to the home in Hampshire County and found 20 purebred Irish setters.
Their owner admitted she was overwhelmed and voluntarily surrendered the dogs.
15 of them, 5 adults and ten puppies, were taken to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield.
Candy Dash of the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society told 22News, “She acknowledged she was in over her head and surrendered the 20 dogs that were with her because she really wanted them to have a better life and she knew that, that opportunity was out there for them."
The puppies are only four weeks old so they won't be up for adoption for at least another four weeks.
Dakin is also taking in several Dixie Dogs this weekend.
