SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It was a night of celebration in Springfield as a local organization commemorated 65 years of service to the community.
The Springfield Sixteen Acres Lions Club gathered Saturday at Salvatore's Restaurant in Springfield to celebrate their past and honor those who are driving the organization forward.
The forty-six member provides scholarships as well as a variety of charitable services to the community.
“Our big thing is glasses. We buy glasses for those who are poor and don't have enough money or if they need an operation we help them with funds with sight and hearing,” said President Thomas Cocchi.
The Lions Club is an international organization with over seven million members worldwide.
