SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Some 20 people had to be evacuated Friday afternoon because of a gas leak at a Springfield medical building construction site.
Aide to the Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger told 22News that a backhoe cracked a gas line at Wason and Fisk Avenues in the Brightwood neighborhood mid-afternoon.
Leger said that four homes and two businesses were evacuated as a precaution.
A short time later, those residents were allowed to return from their homes after the gas was shut off.
