HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - More than two dozen area residents are taking on a 28 day diet challenge that calls for them to completely give up all animal based products, including dairy. It's called the Engine 2, 28 day challenge.

According to Healthy Eating Specialist Joan Eckert, it was designed by Texas firefighter Rip Esselstyn,
She told 22news people who follow the 28 day challenge will definitely see an improvement in their health.

"What I like most is that he talks about the diet that is completely plant strong and 100 percent whole grain." said Eckert.

At least 25 people attended an orientation at the Whole Foods Market in Hadley Thursday night.
They were given a 28 day diet plan that was heavy on fruits, veggies, whole grains and nuts, and light on processed foods.

Organizers said the diet can reduce cholesterol, control glucose levels and help maintain normal weight.

At least 30 Hadley Whole Foods team members are also taking up the diet challenge, along with 22News Anchor

Elysia Rodriguez, and 22News Producers Kara Dominick, and Mike Bulda.

We'll let you know how they did when the 28 days are up.
