HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Over 40 people were displaced Sunday night, after an apartment fire on Beech Street, near the corner of Dwight Street.

The fire started around 8:30PM.  A total of 8 apartments in the five story building were occupied at the time. All the tenants were able to make it out safely.

Holyoke Fire Department Lt. Thomas Paquin told 22News it's still unclear what caused the fire, but they do know it started in the back of the building.

The American Red Cross worked with the families, and the apartment's management company was able to find hotel rooms for their tenants Sunday night.
