5 weather related accidents on Interstate 291

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Two people are recovering this morning after car accidents caused by black ice on Interstate 291.

Massachusetts State Police told 22News the accidents happened between 1:00 and 2:30 Sunday morning.

On Interstate 291 Westbound Exit 5 there was a one car accident where a man was taken to Baystate Medical Center.

Then on Interstate 291 Eastbound right before the Armory Street exit there was a one car accident where a woman was also taken to Baystate Medical Center

There were three other accidents blamed on the slick conditions, but no one was injured.

State Police say everyone is expected to recover from their injuries.
