SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - 500 select runners made their way through Forest Park tonight for the 7th annual bright Nights 5K Road Race.

Many of these runners consider the Bright Nights 5K their favorite race, both old and young alike.

Liam Flaherty of Westfield told 22News, "It's good. You start out at Seuss Land, and you keep going through the Bright Nights. Everything you saw as a kid, so it's good to run through it. It gives you a lot of motivation. It’s fun."

Louis Disessa is a repeat Bright Nights 5K runner. He said, “I work at Pathfinder High School. I'm a shop teacher. I like making things. This is a converted jogger stroller that I run occasional races with."

The Bright Nights 5K is a very popular race that's limited to 500 runners. Registration opened September 4th at midnight, and they closed it within hours.
