SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's an application that can save students and parents thousands of dollars but often times it's filled out incorrectly or not at all.
This is why today is the 8th annual FAFSA Day in Massachusetts. Financial aid officers and higher education experts will be offering free one-on-one assistance. Last year, FAFSA day helped more than 1,500 students complete their FAFSA.
It's important to file these applications on-time to maximize your financial aid. Organizers say low-income, first generation students are especially encouraged to attend. The deadline for mail-in application is May 1 st, and the deadline for online applications is June 30, 2012.
If you would like to attend any of today's free workshops, there are several going on today around Western Massachusetts.
Holyoke- Holyoke Community College - 2pm
Springfield- American International College - 2pm
Pittsfield- Intermodal Education Center - 1pm
Montague - Turners Falls High School - 2pm
