SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - The Southwick Fire Department held its 9/11 remembrance ceremony Tuesday as it has every year since the 2001 attacks.
Townspeople joined their firefighters to pay tribute to fellow firefighters and the many other victims of that terrorist attack on this day 11 years ago.
“I'm glad these ceremonies continue each year after year,” said Dennis Day of the Southwick Fire Department. “I think it's impertinent that people remember the tragedy.”
“Oh, I just think they should have this, because people tend to forget, and it's an important thing,” Joan Holmes of Southwick said.
During the ceremony, Southwick firefighters put on display the names photographs of each New York City firefighter who died on September 11, 2001.
