CHARLEMONT, Mass. (WWLP) - People in Charlemont got rid of their Christmas trees, while also giving back to their community.
It was the second annual Christmas tree bonfire, put on by the 250 Committee.
The 8-member group is in charge of fundraising for the town's 250th birthday coming up in 2015.
One of the co-chairs told 22News some of the ideas they have so far for the big milestone.
Kim Blakeslee says, “An arts festival on Main Street. We also have members very interested in doing a road race for the athletes and possibly a black tie affair. “
The event has more than doubled since last year.
Saturday night, families enjoyed music and food while around 160 trees were burned.
