SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Friends and family of Charles Wilhite rallied in Springfield today to bring attention to a court hearing that disputes evidence in the case against him.
Members of Justice for Charles say Wilhite is innocent in spite of his conviction in the murder of Alberto Rodriguez in 2008.
Today, a judge will hear arguments that dispute evidence in the case, in particular testimony in which a witness recanted his identification of Wilhite.
The witness says police coercion is what led him to name Wilhite in connection with the murder.
Another man was also convicted in the case. Wilhite is currently serving life in prison without parole.
Supporters are holding a vigil outside until the hearing, which is expected to be held at 9 a.m.
