SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - Southwick firefighters had a hard time with a brush and barn fire Monday night.

It started as a brush fire at around 8:45 Monday on Sheep Pasture Road in Southwick.

The fire spread to a tobacco storage facility according to Southwick Police Dispatcher Keith Strongren.

The fire was in a remote part of town with no fire hydrants nearby and they had to call in tanker trucks from neighboring towns to haul water in.

Firefighters were issuing warnings about live power lines being down and there were concerns about some propane tanks. Southwick Fire Dept. asked Western Mass Electric Company to terminate service to the building.

Southwick police opened all lanes of Sheep Pasture Road to traffic Tuesday morning.

No reports of any injuries.
