FOREST PARK, Mass. (WWLP) - People from across the Pioneer Valley got to get up close and personal with some of the stars of the Forest Park Zoo tonight.

The animals were the main attraction of the zoo's ninth annual Party with the Animals. This fundraiser offered dinner, dancing, and a silent auction in addition to the furry and not so furry friends. Over 200 people attended tonight's gala and all of the proceeds went to taking care of the zoo's animals. Those who attended told 22News this zoo means the world to them.

“This is a wonderful resource, Forest Park and the zoo, and it would be a shame if we no longer had it,” said Barbara Lindquist.

Organizers told 22News they are hoping to raise anywhere from 60,000 to 65,000 dollars tonight. That money will help them feed, house, and protect the animals at their zoo.
