SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Thousands of families were displaced after the June 1 tornadoes, and many have been living without a comfortable place to sleep.
For that reason, Jordan's Furniture reached out to the United Way of the Pioneer Valley. The company donated a truckload of mattress sets to victims.
"When someone calls and says their child is sleeping on the floor; that is not a good thing. We want to address it immediately and the community has really pulled together to help us out with that,” said Jennifer Kinsman of donor relations at HAP Housing.
The shipment from Jordan’s will add to the more than 100 mattresses that have already been given out to families in the last few weeks. The Jordan's shipment should last a few weeks.
HAP Housing and the United Way expect that they will still be working to meet the needs of victims for the next several months.
