Giving the gift of life with bone marrow drive

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An ailing athlete from Connecticut may one day thank Springfield College students for his gift of life.

The men's basketball team at Springfield College held a bone marrow drive late Sunday afternoon.

They're trying to find a marrow match for a soccer player at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Jon has a close friend attending Springfield College.

Dom Vear says, “Jon this summer got to the hospital like two different occasions with a bloody nose and they couldn't figure out what it was and he's been at the hospital since the labor day weekend.”

Jon, the young man who suffers from Aplastic Anemia, doesn't have a family donor.

So he's hopeful someone on the marrow registry will be able to help him.
