SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - In 1998 Ronn Johnson of Springfield established the Brianna Fund to benefit young people who have physical disabilities.
What began as a fund drive for Ronn Johnson's disabled daughter Brianna to get a van, continued into its 15th annual fundraising concert Saturday evening at Evangelical Covenant Church in Springfield.
Before the start of the fund raising concert, Ronn Johnson told 22News how the community has embraced his fundraiser that falls on the weekend of Martin Luther King's birthday. “It's extremely gratifying to be able to do something to help somebody and the fact we have such a large community of people who support this for so many years and we're extremely grateful. “
Ronn Johnson said during the past fifteen years the Brianna Fund has helped 45 disabled young people in Springfield.
