HUNTINGTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Western Massachusetts disaster relief drives continued to help people in the hurricane ravaged areas  of New York and New Jersey.

Huntington firefighter John McVeigh's been collecting necessities for the people in storm battered Staten Island.

McVeigh told 22News he's been in constant touch with Staten Island firefighters about what's needed most. And that's what hill town residents are donating.

“They're bringing down clothes, blankets, coats, food, all non perishable food, baby supplies, that's kind of a big thing,“ McVeigh said.

John McVeigh told 22News he intends to drive his van to Staten Island and have firefighters there distribute the items he collected during the past two weeks.
