SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A jury at Federal Court in Springfield has so far not been able to reach a verdict on two of the three charges against Michael Jacques; one of the three men charged with burning down the Macedonia Church of God in Christ the night President Obama was elected.
The jury has been deadlocked on charges of conspiracy to violate civil rights and damage to religious property. After a half day of deliberations Tuesday, they decided to go home, followed by a full day of deliberations on Wednesday. The jury will continue deliberations at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, following new instructions from the judge.
In addition to the charges on which the jury is deadlocked, the third count that Jacques is facing is using fire to commit a felony.
