Man arrested for looting damaged home

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There has been another looting arrest in the tornado-ravaged area of Springfield.

Springfield Police Sgt. Dennis Prior told 22News that 44 year-old Kenneth Bolden of Springfield was arrested around 5:30 Thursday morning.

According to Sgt. Prior, Bolden had stolen items from a condemned home on Spruce Street. Sgt. Prior told 22News that a laptop computer, a small TV, and some DVD's were among the items taken.

Sergeant John Delaney told 22News that Bolden told officers the items were all trash that he found lying on the ground. Delaney says that this could not be the case, as the electronics were all completely dry, and it had been raining for hours prior to the arrest.

In addition to the stolen items, Delaney says that police also found a long crow bar in Bolden's backpack.

Bolden is being charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intento to commit a felony, larceny from a building, possession of burglarious tools, and receiving stolen property over $250. He was also arrested on a warrant for possession of a class B drug.

The arrest was made by a special Springfield Police patrol working in the tornado-damaged areas of the city.
