SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Cancer awareness in Western Massachusetts increases every day, thanks to events such as those held in greater Springfield.

The Mass Pipes and Drums charities performed this afternoon at the Eastern States Coliseum to raise money for the Rays of Hope.

This event's called a "TATTOO", a Scottish term for a special musical event.

People who support Rays of Hope made certain to attend the unique fund raiser.

Pamela Gates says, “I'm here to support rays of hope. There are people here that have had Cancer and have given through cancer has concern I feel very fortunate and I want to do it for them.”

The "TATTOO" wasn't the only event to heighten awareness and support for the fight against cancer.
