SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Neighbors warn that a tragedy is just waiting to happen as they appealed to 22News to do something about traffic conditions on Malden Street in Springfield's Forest Park neighborhood.
They are angry because of the high speed traffic on this one-way residential street without any posted speed limits. Long time Malden Street resident Natallie Burbul told 22News that parking on both sides of the street only increases the danger.
“People come flying down the street at 75 miles an hour here the right way, mind you, people go up the wrong way that fast, if not more,” Burbul said,
Neighbor Nick Forestier says it is frightening. “It's pretty scary because of the kids and the other cars coming the right way,” he said.
22News never actually observed any wrong-way traffic on Malden Street, but neighbors believe that the many children living on this street are in constant jeopardy.
