WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - People who went to the Big E got a special treat Saturday night and it wasn't a cream puff.
It was the Navy crew of the U.S.S. Constitution. The crew was dressed in their uniforms from 1812 and they performed historic gun and pike drills.
The crowd was dazzled by the display, but the crew told 22News this is as much about education as it is entertainment.
“A lot of people don't really know how the Navy has evolved from U.S.S. Constitution to what we do now, with aircraft carriers and we're on land as well. We're everywhere. We're not just in the water like a lot of people think,” according to Anthony Barnardo of the U.S. Navy.
If you missed the U.S.S. Constitution crew Saturday you can still see them. They'll be at the fair through October 2nd.
