SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Homeowners in Springfield's Bay neighborhood may have the perfect solution for keeping up the property around a home that was recently taken by the bank.

22News checked out the unkempt lawn at the request of neighbors on Cloran Street. They are afraid that the weeds and tall grass could catch fire.

Springfield's deputy code enforcement director, David Cotter has no faith in the Austin, Texas company that now manages the property, but Freddrick Freeman who lives down the street, feels the neighbors should cut the grass.

“I think it's a wonderful idea to keep the neighborhood clean. Like my son runs around here, and having a fire around the neighborhood; not safe at all,” Freeman said.

In addition, a code enforcement inspector looked at the property today. The deputy code enforcement director expects to take his case against the Austin, Texas property management company to the Hampden County Housing Court.
