SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Council of Churches of Western Mass. launched a new program to help people recover from drug and alcohol addiction problems.

The 6-month program called Faith Recovery in Action will provide resources like public transportation fares, educational opportunities and job training classes.

Archbishop Timothy Paul told 22News more than 45 recovery coaches will also be available to guide recovering addicts. “This is a time that they can actually receive a gift. I mean everything from, if you need help paying child care, whatever you need, we have an opportunity to give that gift.”

The program will also help people who spent time in jail within the last two years.
