HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The newly renovated Community Field in Holyoke was open Saturday for the first time since June of last year.
Mayor Alex Morse and Congressman Richard Neal did the honors as the neighborhood park near Cherry Street once again welcomed people from the area for a day of recreation.
Gina Russo lives nearby. She told 22News, it's great to see the park open again. “I think it’ll bring in a lot of families out. A lot of kids off the street, I've lived here all my life, 35 years; I've lived right down the street from the park.”
Community Park first opened in 1925.
The newly renovated Community Field is now a dog park, ice skating path, along with lights, new benches and security cameras.
