One New England community not so friendly

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - If you scan the survey list of America's friendliest towns, you won't find one New England community.

Theresa Gersanti moved to Holyoke from Syracuse, New York, five years ago.

She told 22News, it's not that New Englanders are unfriendly. She prefers the word Reserved. “This is how we've experienced since we move here. How it's been awhile to make good friends. People you want to call and say have dinner together. It's taken a little bit of time, we're getting there. It's slower than we expected.”

Veteran Holyokers at this neighborhood coffee shop said they agree some folks are a bit reserved, but once we get to know you, you'll be accepted.
