Psychologist predicts most depressing day of the year

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A UK psychologist believes this Monday in January is the most depressing day of the year.

Cliff Arnall actually came up with an equation in 2005, and found between winter weather, bills piling up from the holidays, and perhaps a failed New Year resolution or two, people are feeling pretty miserable on this day.

Now Arnall did create the formula as part of a marketing campaign for a travel company, but some people told 22News it makes sense.

Karine Miltimore says, “Well like any normal human being of course, sometimes I have my down days and my up days. But every time I wake up I think how blessed I am. My kids, my husband, everything I need at this point. “

If you are feeling a little down Monday, there are some pick-me-ups you can try: a recent survey found taking a walk or even sitting by a window can improve mood.

Doctors also recommend exercise and getting plenty of sleep.
