SPD: Child stabbed with chopsticks

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield man has been arrested after police say he stabbed a 12 year-old boy with a pair of chopsticks.

Police Cdt. Melissa Rodriguez told 22News that Vo Duc Au, 31, of Springfield is being charged with two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

Police were called to Au’s Carroll Street home on Wednesday afternoon for reports of a domestic disturbance. The boy, who suffered a one-inch cut to his left arm, told police that he was doing his homework when a chopsticks-wielding Au came running down the stairs and attacked him.

Au’s father came to the boy’s rescue, and Rodriguez says Au then tried to stab the man in the face several times. He managed to get the chopsticks out of his hands.

According to Rodriguez, Au was shaking and uncooperative when police arrived and arrested him.

The young victim of the attack did not have to be taken to the hospital.
