Teen shot three times in Springfield

16 year old boy fell out of car on Washington St.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield teen is in critical condition Thursday after being shot three times and falling out of his car on Washington Street in the Forest Park neighborhood.

Springfield Police Detective William Kelly told 22News the 16-year-old boy was in surgery practically all day at Baystate Medical Center after being shot in the face, the chest and the arm while he was driving his car just after 4:30 on Washington Street. He is listed in critical condition.

Police say the boys clothing was scattered on the pavement, just a few feet from where police say he fell from his silver Honda. He may have been shot while he was driving his car.

Mayor Domenic Sarno lives down the road and told 22News he was shocked it happened there.

Residents now living in fear. "Now you have to wonder what if I get shot. I have to watch myself. It's not safe. It's hard to live out here now," said Springfield resident Julian Penna.

So far, Springfield police do not have any suspects and they are not releasing the name of the boy who was shot. But if you have any information your asked to call the Springfield Police Detective Bureau at 787-6355.
