SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The city of Springfield is planning an aerial flyover of the entire city this spring to update data in its Geographic Information System.

The flyover is the first of its kind since 2008.

City officials try to update the photographic mapping every four to five years and recent disasters including the June first tornado and the October snow storm have both altered the landscape.

The information will be used to update the city's online property lookup system as well as police, fire and health services.

The city expects to post the new information online by mid-summer.
