Springfield police hosting "gun buy-back" program

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield Police Department is hosting a " gun buy-back" program.

The event will be held Saturday at Springfield police headquarters on Pearl Street from 10 until 5.

Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News, residents who turn in a firearm to will receive a $50 visa gift card, no questions asked.

Residents who turn in assault rifles will receive two cards totaling $100.00.

Sgt. Delaney says the firearms must be in working condition.

All weapons must also be unloaded and delivered in a box or bag.
