SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield was recognized as the second most gay friendly city in America.

Advocate Magazine reports that the city is among the top ten in the country for same sex couples.

It's popular for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community because it's central to skiing, shores, Boston and Provincetown.

Downtown, The McKnight, Forest Park and the Ridgewood/Maple Hill area of six corners were highlighted.

Tacoma, Washington is number one.

The magazine only included cities with a population of more than 150-thousand.
