Springfield residents voice their opinion on casino

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - East Forest Park residents had a chance to give their feedback on whether the Springfield casino vote should be city-wide or just in the neighborhood where the casino might go.

The Planning and Economic Development subcommittee of the city council held the meeting at the Frederick Harris School.

One man told 22News he's still not sure Springfield is the right place for a casino, but if it does happen everyone should have a say.

John Walmer says, “I still think they should have had it in the Palmer area. I think it's ideal for the   area. Convenient for anyone who wants to go, it's for the whole city. Not just for one area. I think it's only fair they have a city wide vote. “

Another East Forest Park resident told 22News she's upset these public input meetings aren't better publicized beforehand, so more people could attend.
