SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Somewhere in the world, there may be an avid collector of vintage buses willing to pay millions to acquire a rare bus that's now in Springfield.

It’s not just any bus, but a 1939 Futurliner first shown at the World's Fair 72 years ago, and since then rebuilt by its present owner; the Peter Pan Bus company in Springfield.

Only twelve of these Futurliners were ever built. With bells and whistles ahead of their time, they considered the prototype for the future.

This Futurliner is being sold on eBay with a minimum starting bid of half a million dollars.

Peter Pan's Bill Sinico who restored the Futurliner told 22News that he's predicting someone will buy this bus. “One of these sold two years ago at an auction for $4.3 million. If one of these sold at that auction, I'm sure this will sell as well,” Sinico said.

The Futurliner will be on eBay for one more week.
