CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Part of Grattan Street in Chicopee was closed for more than an hour Wednesday as Chicopee Police and members of the State Police Bomb Squad investigated a suspicious package found at a drop off mailbox.

Chicopee Deputy Fire Chief James Mcinerney told 22News that the small steel box was found around 11:00 A.M. near the corner of Chicopee and Grattan Streets in the Willimansett section.

The Bomb Squad was called-in to x-ray the box, which turned out to be empty.
There is no word at this time on who may have owned the box.
