SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's getting really close to the time to turn on the heat. But many people are worried their heating bills will take a bigger toll on their household budgets.

Experts are expecting price of oil and electricity to go up.

22News is working for you with some tips on how you can save money this winter.

  • Compare utility bills with your neighbors to find the best deal.
  • Use pre-programmed thermostats
  • Keep the thermostat at 65 to 68 degrees during the day and 50 to 60 at night.
  • Clean your air filter
  • Add insulation - Energy escapes through a house's top floor or attic.
