SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - You may be surprised to learn that money and infidelity aren't the only causes of marital problems—there’s a new culprit creating relationship issues.
Do your emotions bubble over over the dishes? You're not alone.
A new survey for Bosch Home Appliances finds more than 40% of Americans fight about loading the dishwasher.
Some common reasons include which way should utensils face, where to put plastic containers, and what's the most efficient method.
Liz Dratfield admitted, “I've gone in and reorganized it but I've never complained about it to him, I've just done it.”
The biggest point of contention, though, with 61% of people polled saying they fight over whether dishes should be pre-rinsed or not.
The answer... “You don't want to rinse the dishes, you want to scrape them and put them in but don't put clean dishes in a dishwasher,” said Bruce Durocher, Manager of Manny’s Appliance in Wilbraham.
Many women also insist only certain items can go on each rack.
However, dishwashers have become more advanced. Before you would have to put glasses and cups on the top shelf but now most dishwashers are made with a separate mechanism that washes the top shelf individually.
However you come clean, you're not alone in arguing about the dishes.
“I think I'm better at spacial organization so I can fit more in to a tight space,” Liz Dratfield confessed. Her husband however, had no comment.
