SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The house fire death of an 81 year-old Springfield woman is being investigated as a homicide.

The Office of Hampden County District Attorney Mark Mastroianni announced Thursday that a homicide investigation is underway in the death of Doris Alzak.

Alzak died Tuesday after a fire at her 100 Phillips Avenue home. She was found dead and partially burned in a chair in her living room along with her cat, which also died.

According to the DA’s Office, the autopsy will not be available for several days, and no additional information about her death will be released at this time.
