Woman with child attacked by bandit in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Warning: This video may not be appropriate for young viewers.

A man allegedly stabbed a young Springfield woman after threatening her four year old daughter with the same knife on Friday . It happened outside 455 Belmont Ave around 8:35 Friday night.

Springfield Detective Jim McCoy told 22News, moments after this man stepped in front of the surveillance camera he attacked a young woman, and eventually stabbed the woman in the collarbone area.

She was treated at Baystate Medical Center.

Detective McCoy hopes someone might recognize the image captured by the camera at Ben Thanh Asian Market in the city's Forest Park neighborhood.

McCoy believes the man with the knife was trying to rob the woman when he stabbed her.
