WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - New Techniques for driver training are being introduced here in western Massachusetts.

AAA of the Pioneer Valley just announced their new driver improvement program, which will teach teens and older drivers a better way to stay safe on the road, with an added focus on driver surroundings.

"It's all about managing the space around you, being aware of the space around you, being aware of what the other driver is doing, making sure that you have enough distance between you and the vehicles around you and that you have an emergency out,” Steve Brochu of AAA Driving School said.

This focus on time, space, and visibility has already been incorporated in their teen driver classes that started Tuesday and will be part of their driving classes for seniors. These new senior classes will focus on specific ways that older drivers can improve their skills on the road.
